Location and Travel Information
THE AREA
La Ramade is located in the Dordogne region of France, just outside the picturesque village of Daglan (right). The medieval town of Sarlat is the closest town to Daglan and is approximately 13 miles (20km) to the north.
Daglan is situated across the River Céou from La Ramade and contains a bank, post office, baker, butcher, well stocked supermarket and several restaurants serving traditional French cuisine.
In addition to sightseeing, activities in the area include canoeing on the Dordogne river, horse riding, paintball, bicycle hire, animal parks and the monkey sanctuary at Rocamadour in the Lot Valley.

THE DORDOGNE
The Dordogne is one of the most beautiful regions in France and is home to many delightful riverside villages and towns. The area is also known for its cuisine and local specialities include truffles, foie gras, confits de canard and pates. There are many chateaux and local vineyards are in abundance and produce an excellent range of wines.
PLACES TO VISIT
Sarlat (left) at night is magical and is one of the most attractive towns in southwest France. It is the capital of the Périgord Noir region and features excellent restaurants and colourful markets on a Wednesday and Saturday.
Beynac is a small town set into the side of a cliff alongside the Dordogne river. Situated at the top is the Château de Beynac which is open to the public in season. Whilst visiting take a river boat trip on a traditionally designed Gabarre.
Belvès is a medieval city built on a rocky outcrop dominating the valley of Nauze. It has superb restaurants, famous for their foie gras and truffles.
Montignac is home of the prehistoric Lascaux cave. Discovered in 1940 by four young boys, the cave contains hundreds of engravings and paintings and is thought to date back to 15000 BC.
La Roque Gageac was recently voted the most beautiful village in France.
Domme is a small village situated high above the Dordogne and has fantastic views as well as an excellent open air market.
Les Eyzies is known as one of the best prehistoric sites in the world and is home to the Musée National, one of France's best prehistoric museums. A visit to Roc St Christophe is also recommended.
La Bugue is a little town built on terraces along the bank of the River Vézère. Nearby attractions include the castle at Fleurac, Saint Cirq du Bugue and an aquarium museum.
WEATHER AND CLIMATE
The Dordogne enjoys a hot and sunny climate with temperatures being only half a degree less than the Mediterranean.
